Professional BBQ teams will face off in a KCBS-sanctioned competition for trophies, bragging rights and $5,000 in prize money—while spectators enjoy live music, local vendors, food, drinks and the excitement of competition day.

The music starts at noon and keeps the party moving as BBQ teams compete nearby. VIP guests receive reserved table seating, so they can enjoy the concert and event from a guaranteed location.

Don’t just watch the competition—become part of it.

A limited number of public attendees will have the opportunity to participate as official judges in the Grillz Gone Wild People’s Choice BBQ Competition.

Your VIP pass gives you access to sample competition BBQ from participating teams, compare their creations and vote for your favorite.

No professional judging experience is required. You only need an appetite, an opinion and a healthy respect for smoked meat.

Arrive at the designated VIP check-in location and receive your judging materials and instructions.

2. Taste the Competition

Sample BBQ prepared by participating Grillz Gone Wild competition teams.

3. Pick Your Favorite

Consider the flavor, tenderness and overall BBQ greatness of each eligible entry.

4. Cast Your Vote

Submit your official People’s Choice vote and help determine which team takes home the public’s title.

5. Enjoy the Party

Head back to your reserved table, grab a drink and enjoy Whisky Halo live while the competition results are finalized.

VIP JUDGE PASS FAQ

How much is the VIP People’s Choice Judge Pass?

The pass is $40 per person, including tax. There are no additional taxes added to the advertised ticket price.

What does the VIP pass include?

Your pass includes access to the People’s Choice BBQ tasting and judging experience, BBQ samples from participating teams, an official vote and reserved table seating for the concert and event.

Is this the same as being a KCBS-certified judge?

No. The People’s Choice competition is a separate public tasting and voting experience. VIP passholders help select the People’s Choice winner but do not judge the official KCBS competition categories.

Do I need BBQ judging experience?

No experience is necessary. If you love BBQ and can pick a favorite, you are qualified.

Is the number of passes limited?

Yes. People’s Choice tasting capacity is limited, and only a select number of public judges can participate. Advance purchase is strongly recommended.

Is a VIP pass required to attend the event?
