Welcome to the Rock Lane Resort BBQ Competition: Grills Gone Wild!
Get ready for a smokin’ good time on the shores of Table Rock Lake! Join us at Rock Lane Resort for a full-flavored weekend packed with BBQ battles, live entertainment, lakefront accommodations, boat rentals, and all the fun you can handle.
Teams check in on Friday, October 23, ready to stake their claim and start the smoke. Judges check in Saturday, October 24 at 10 AM, with turn-ins kicking off at noon:
- Chicken – 12:00 PM
- Ribs – 12:30 PM
- Pork – 1:00 PM
- Brisket – 1:30 PM
- Awards – approximately 3:30–4:00 PM
While the judges are hard at work from 12–3 PM, guests get in on the action too with our People’s Choice competition. Teams that want to participate prep their People’s Choice meat on Friday night and receive a raw Boston butt in return — it’s not required, but we’d love to see every team join in, and there’s a separate cash prize on the line for the People’s Choice winner. Guest tickets to taste and vote are $40.
The event itself is free to walk around and enjoy — come soak up the music, the atmosphere, and the smell of good barbecue, no ticket required. Tickets are only needed if you want to taste and vote in the People’s Choice.
Live music from Whisky Halo will keep the energy going from 12–3 PM while the judges do their work and the smoke rolls.
Judging will take place at the old Tiki Pavilion — rain or shine, with our covered rain backup location downstairs at the GM office area if the weather doesn’t cooperate.

Grills Gone Wild is a Kansas City BBQ Society (KCBS) sanctioned barbecue competition hosted at Rock Lane Resort & Marina, featuring competitive teams cooking for over $5,000 in prizes, a People's Choice tasting competition for guests, and live music all weekend.
